Roy Hodgson and Chris Brunt have singled out Billy Jones for praise following his league debut in the Black Country derby.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson said he was delighted with Jones’ attitude and commitment in training and pleased with his debut.

‘Billy Jones has been really very good since he first came to the club. Every time he’s stepped onto the field he has done well. He’s been very patient to get this chance, and I thought today he grabbed it with both hands.’

Brunt added on the creator of his goal.

‘Billy is a good player, he has done well in the games he has played, especially in the Carling Cup at Everton, he was super that night. He didn’t look out of place at all and did very well for the opening goal.’
