Plenty Of West Brom Fans Will Disagree With MotM – But 2 Shots, 2 Key Passes Still Leaves A Worthy Winner

|

After tasting Play-Off Semi-Final Heartbreak, West Bromwich Albion got their 2019/20 Championship campaign underway on Saturday afternoon and took a narrow, but well deserved victory over Nottingham Forest at The City Ground.

Despite seeing Forest open the scoring eight minutes into the tie, West Brom hit back strongly under the charge of new head coach Slaven Bilic and Kyle Edwards had us back on level terms 15 minutes in, before Matty Phillips gave us the 2-1 advantage in minute 26.

That was where the scoring ended but I think for many fans, they will agree that 18-year-old debutant Nathan Ferguson probably stole the show as he provided an assist on the day and impressed many.

Statistics website Whoscored did however, give their star man award to goalscorer Kyle Edwards with a score of 8.06.

Completing the top five on the day were, rightly, Ferguson in second place with a score of 7.66, Phillips (7.33), Semi Ajayi (7.24) and Kyle Bartley (6.86).

A good start, but now to build on it.
