Baggies supremo Jeremy Peace has warned off any clubs thinking of making offers for the clubs top stars.

Peace has said from the start that the likes of Curtis Davies, Zoltan Gera and Nathan Ellington are not for sale at any price and anyone who puts in an offer is wasting their time.

Peace, speaking after the unveiling of John Hartson, told the official site today ‘We have already rejected approaches for key players and I would like to make it clear once again that we have no intention of selling any of them.

‘We remain focused on strengthening the playing squad not weakening it.

‘We want to return to the Premiership as soon as possible and any predators eyeing our top players are wasting their time.’

If the chairman sticks to his guns I respect what Peace is trying to do. He has taken the same stance as Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan and told top flight clubs that our stars are not for sale.

The fact that we have signed a player as good as Hartson fills me with confidence for the season ahead and if we can keep players like Davies etc we must be amongst the favourites for promotion, as long as Bryan Robson plays some attacking football.
