Pathetic Watford Loan To Buy Offer Rebuffed By West Brom

|

It’s been reported today that Watford offered as little as £750,000 as a loan fee for West Bromwich Albion centre-half Craig Dawson.

Sky Sports reported earlier today that the Vicarage Road outfit had come in with a season long loan deal for our 28-yer-old versatile defender but we’re only offering a paltry £750,000 as a loan fee.

Additionally, they wanted to apparently include a buy clause that would’ve totalled only £10million as a fee on a presumed four-year contract for him at the club.

Now this is the rumour mill in full flight and the media will be eeking out every last rumour they can ahead of the deadline day window closing at 5pm tomorrow, but despite Dawson throwing his toys the other week, I can only assume this is invention on the figures, otherwise somebody at Watford needs to gain an IQ on a deal that paltry for a man we clearly value higher – if previously rejected bids this summer have been considered accurate.

With Burnley reportedly offering £25million for both Dawson and Jay Rodriguez earlier in the season, if we were going to deal in low eight figures, they wouldn’t have been sent packing so quickly and in the current market our believed valuation of £20million is more than fair given his qualities.

£10million as an opening venture is mental, especially given the others clubs supposedly linked with an interest. If the rumour mill can be believed, we’ve already reportedly turned down offers in excess of their opening gambit and that valuation doesn’t even come close to the realms of making a decision to get him out of the club either.

Expect plenty more tomorrow I would think.
