Opinion: West Brom’s most important piece of business in January is holding onto this ace

|

West Bromwich Albion fans are loving life at the moment under the management of Slaven Bilic. The Baggies are flying high at the top of the Championship, and they’ve got the January window to try and make some improvements to the side and get even better.

However, as much as the West Midlands side will want to bolster their playing squad this month, they also have to avoid losing anyone too, and whilst it’s hard to see why Slaven Bilic would sell any of his stars this month, he may have no choice but to wave goodbye to Grady Diangana.

The young winger is a top, top talent, and his loan spell from West Ham has been a rip-roaring success so far this season, as the 21-year-old has been electric for the Championship’s premier team, scoring five goals and assisting a further five so far in his 20 appearances this season.

Those goals and assists don’t paint the full picture, though. When you take a deeper dive into the stats that the youngster has been posting it becomes clear that the on-loan West Ham winger is one of the most exciting players to be watching at the moment.

Diangana, so far this season in the Championship only, is averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.6 shots, 1.4 key passes and 2.5 dribbles per game, as well as being fouled 1.5 times per match and maintaining a 79.8% passing accuracy (WhoScored), and these are not numbers to be sniffed at.

Should West Brom sign Diangana permanently?

Yes

No

As good as those numbers are, though, they’re only going to be set to further pique the interest of Diangana’s parent club, which could be worrying for Slaven Bilic as we enter into the final two weeks of the January transfer window.
