Opinion: West Brom signing £4.5m rated Championship ace would make for sublime business

|

West Brom fans have got a good chance of watching their side win promotion to the Premier League this season, and from the outside looking in, Slaven Bilic is not waiting around hoping to get through the current campaign without new signings, as the Baggies are linked with many a new face.

One of those new faces that has been linked with a move to The Hawthorns is someone who the Baggies have already come up against this season in the Championship, and if they are to secure this man’s services then they’ll need to part with a fee of at least £4.5m, as is his Transfermarkt valuation.

That is what has come from Birmingham Mail anyway, as they’ve linked Huddersfield striker Karlan Grant with a move to the West Midlands, where the striker will be a lot more likely to get back to the footballing heights of the Premier League after his relegation with the Terriers last season.

West Brom fans have got the likes of Charlie Austin, Kenneth Zohore and Hal Robson Kanu as their recognised strikers, yet now they could be set to add some more goalscoring prowess to the side in the form of the 22-year-old, who has got a lot of time to grow and develop as a player from here.

The young striker has impressed this season, and his 12 goals and four assists in the Championship season for the Terriers (Transfermarkt) is obviously impressive, especially considering that Huddersfield have scored just 31 goals compared to West Brom’s 50.

Do West Brom need to spend in January?

Yes, the squad needs that extra something

No, we're sorted for now

It looks a lot like this move would make perfect sense. Grant’s goals would help the Baggies make it from the Championship to the Premier League, and at his young age, he has plenty of scope to grow as a player and become an established top-flight player, something Bilic will be crying out for this time next season.
