Opinion: Championship winger linked with West Brom move isn’t what Slaven Bilic needs

|

West Brom fans want a new signing in the final embers of the January transfer window, and it looks very much like the club and Slaven Bilic are going to oblige and give them what they want. However, they shouldn’t be signing just anyone this window.

The Championship has been something of Kamil Grosicki’s playground over the last couple of years. The Polish winger has often been overshadowed by Jarrod Bowen at Hull City, but he’s still posted impressive numbers, with seven goals and four assists in 28 league games this season (Transfermarkt).

Now, though, it’s being reported that the wide man could be set to leave the KCOM Stadium to sign for Bilic’s West Brom, and whilst he’s a talented player, he simply isn’t what the club needs at the moment given the current state of the first team at The Hawthorns.

The reports have come from Joseph Masi of The Express and Star, and he’s claimed that the Polish international is a target for the club, seeing as he’s got a proven record in the Championship and has the ability to play on the left or the right.

The Baggies have already got three impressive wingers in the form of Matheus Pereira, Grady Diangana and Matt Phillips, though, yet when it comes to centre-forwards, Bilic has the misfiring Kenneth Zohore, Hal Robson-Kanu and Charlie Austin, who between them have chipped in only one more goal than the aforementioned wingers.

Are you happy with Kamil Grosicki?

Yes

No

With that being the case, it seems strange that Bilic isn’t pooling together his resources to bring in a forward and is instead looking at the Hull winger. However, only time will tell whether or not the Pole will sign and kick the West Midlands side on to better things.
