Opinion: Another crazy weekend showed that West Brom still have it all to play for

|

West Brom’s season is getting more interesting with every game that’s played. The Baggies are back to the top of the table after Wigan Athletic again took all three points away from Elland Road, as the West Midlands side managed to dispatch Luton at The Hawthorns to regain the top spot.

This may have been West Brom’s first win the Championship in eight attempts, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to fall out of this race for promotion and the title. It won’t help that the Baggies have had this barren run over the course of the festive period and into January, but they’re back to winning ways now.

The likes of Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Brentford have made good ground in the race for automatic promotion, but the Baggies’ fate is still in their own hands, and the fans need to get behind Slaven Bilic and back him regardless of what happens, as he can certainly take them up.

Obviously it helps that Leeds United seem to be as intent on bottling it as West Brom are at times, but the facts are the facts. West Brom are top of the table, we’ve lost just four games this season, three less than anyone else this season, and the Premier League is still the aim for this side.

It will not be an easy 16-game run between now and the end of the season, and the coming months will mean so much to the Baggies, but now it’s all about making The Hawthorns a fortress and showing what Bilic’s football is all about, winning games and getting back to the promised land.

Will Slaven Bilic guide us back to the Premier League?

Yes

No

Games against Forest, Brentford and Fulham are all to come, but with the two clashes against Leeds out the way, all that Bilic and co can do is carry on winning games and try and get back to the sort of levels that saw them coast into 1st place for so long.
