Having come through West Bromwich Albion’s youth setup, Romaine Sawyers was another talented youngster who moved on after a lack of game time at The Hawthorns, but the now 27-year-old certainly made a name for himself at Walsall, and then Brentford.

During the summer transfer window head coach Slaven Bilic brought him home and he’s now up and running having made his debut on opening day against Nottingham Forest, and then taken to the pitch again as we drew with Millwall at the weekend.

Taking to social media on Monday, the player sent out a very classy Tweet to the fans.

It’s certainly been a long old journey and plenty of fans are delighted that he’s now back with us to start a new chapter in his career, and if he can star for us like the names he mentions in the message, he’ll quickly become a very well liked player for us given he is technically ‘one of our own’.

Plenty liked his message on his arrival.

“It’s been a long time coming and I feel like I have unfinished business. This is the team that I have always wanted to play for and I’m delighted I’m now going to get that chance. I left the club when I was just a boy with a lot of potential, but I am coming back as a man who has matured as a player.”
