Roy Hodgson has dismissed reports that he would be offloading Peter Odemwingie in the summer so he could swoop for Fulham’s Andy Johnson.

Contradicting the tabloid guff as strong as he could, Hodgson told wba.co.uk.

‘It’s a nonsense story, these sorts of stories are annoying because the fact is Peter Odemwingie is an important player for us and a player we believe in, a player we want to keep and a player who is not for sale. So it is very irritating. I can categorically state, not only is there no truth in it, but we don’t welcome offers for Peter. It’s very simple really.’

Hodgson does add that obviously he rates Andy Johnson and he is a player he likes from working with him at Fulham, but he says he is not a player he has held discussions about in terms of bringing him in.
