Peter Odemwingie and Jerome Thomas remains doubts for this weekends clash against Chelsea.

Odemwingie has been given a 50/50 chance of returning to training before the end of the week, and Thomas is slightly behind him even by the best predictions.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Michael Appleton said both players would not be rushed back into action and their progress would determine how quickly they would get back into the team.

‘Peter has a 50/50 chance of training, whether we involve him straight away in the game is a decision for the gaffer and will be made nearer the time. If he plays any part on Saturday it will be a bonus. Jerome is slightly behind Peter, we will have to monitor and look after him in terms of prehab and rehab. If it was a Cup Final he could maybe play, but the likelihood is we could then lose him for a month. So it’s better to be cautious.’

Appleton adds that Steven Reid should be fit for Chelsea, and Gareth McAuley looks to have overcome his illness and got 90 minutes in our recent reserve fixture.

For Zoltan Gera he might maybe be ready for Norwich or Swansea.
