“Not That Greedy” – Bilic Identifies West Brom Weakness In Tough Wednesday Clash

|

With some fine form and results under head coach Slaven Bilic, West Bromwich Albion went into the November international break sitting top of the Championship table, and clear of the nearest chasers by two points and the aim on Saturday was clear, try and extend that advantage as we welcomed Sheffield Wednesday to The Hawthorns.

It was a mixed game really, with positives and negatives to the performance but we had the advantage ten minutes in as Hal Robson-Kanu found the back of the net once again, but the visitors were on level terms just ahead of the hour mark when the referee handed them a chance from the penalty spot.

With two minutes remaining in the game, Charlie Austin had the opportunity from another penalty to give us all three points and take the win, and he did just that.

With Wednesday being reduced to ten men a few minutes later, we saw the game out.

Speaking to the BBC following the final whistle being blown, the Croatian gaffer said of the game.

“It was a good game. A very difficult one, but we expected it to be difficult as I rate them very highly. We were not that greedy in a positive way and in the second-half they stepped up and we gave them a penalty. After that they gained momentum and we needed a good reaction from the bench and we had it. It takes courage to take a penalty like that but that’s why he’s Charlie Austin. It was a very important moment in the game; the crucial one.”
