West Brom boss Tony Mowbray will not be doing any panic buying during the January transfer window despite the bad defeat on New Years Day.

The Baggies went down 3-1 to bottom side Southend which meant they were unable to improve on their fifth place in the table and missed out on narrowing the gap between themselves and top placed Birmingham City.

He said: ‘We have got some good players but squads are about balance and we just need to find a winning formula.

‘But I am not the sort of guy to panic buy so if I cannot get the players I want, we will not get any. There is no guarantee in January because it is notoriously difficult to get the players you want.’
