Roy Hodgson has said he won’t allow any criticism of the players from the Arsenal game because they all put a shift in.
Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson said we just had to accept that on the day we lost to the better team, but he was more than pleased with the effort and determination of the players in the match – even if all efforts are overshadowed by the win margin.
‘We have to accept that it wasn’t our day. I’m not prepared to accept any criticism of the players in terms of them not working hard. We were undone by quality. We put in one hell of a shift. I certainly will not agree with anyone that the players did not put in a shift. That would be an accusation bordering on scandalous!’
