We’ve all been waiting for the Salomon Rondon speculation to really begin with the relegation release clause that’s believed to be in his contract, but thankfully it had been pretty quiet and West Brom fans were perfectly happy with that believing that he could have a massive part to play in this season’s coming Championship campaign given his style of play and work rate as the end result should be far more joy in front of the net.
The 28-year-old has certainly given no indication that he wants the leave The Hawthorns after we suffered relegation last season and that in itself was a plus point for fans.
The Express and Star reported yesterday evening that Newcastle United had fired a shot across the bow for the Venezuelan striker but bizarrely came in with an offer that would see him move on loan for the season.
It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and quite rightly those at the club are not best pleased with their attempt to unsettle the player. Rondon only has 12-months left on his contract anyway so admittedly it’s one way around his release fee of £16.5million but on what planet would Albion sanction that move?
The offer has rightly been flatly rejected and I hope we’ve given them a do not disturb instruction as well.
I’d be tempted to tell them where to shove it if I was Rondon and they came back with a cash bid – great way to show you want and value a player.
Yesss brilliant news. A loan wouldn’t help us one bit

Loaning Rondon would be nonsensical, though with just the year left on his contract that does make you wonder why anyone would pay £16.5m for him. Doesn’t seem to be agitating for a move though, so perhaps we will keep him for at least another year?
