Midfielder James Morrison has said he couldn’t be more pleased than to have grabbed the winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

The Scottish international netted from a Chris Brunt corner 15 odd minutes from time in the encounter at White Hart Lane, and not only was it our first three points of the season it was also apparently our first win on Spurs’ home soil since 1984, which I didn’t know, but we were unbeaten in the last three.

Having not scored since the 4-1 defeat against Liverpool last October, Morrison told wba.co.uk that he was delighted to get back on the scoresheet especially as the goal proved to be all important.

‘The last time I scored was at Anfield last season, I was a goalscoring midfielder previously, but now I have more of a defensive role. I was delighted to get back on the scoresheet because it’s such a great feeling. I have scored a couple of headers before.’

Presumably the last line was just in case anybody was curious!

Morrison goes on to say that he was actually in the box to try and block off a player so an opportunity could fall to somebody else, but as the ball came in, he found himself free and away from his marker and ‘I rose like a salmon and managed to finish it off.’
