Moore Wants Moore As He Looks To Strengthen West Brom

|

It was being reported on Sunday that West Bromwich Albion head coach Darren Moore was targeting Sheffield United’s namesake Simon Moore.

Moore is a 28-year-old goalkeeper who has been at Bramall Lane since August 2016. In his time at the club, he’s made 61 starting appearances and three showings from the bench. He initially came through Brentford’s youth system, making a total of 77 appearances for them as he earned a move to Cardiff City in the summer of 2013. In Wales across three years, he made an additional 25 appearances but did take in a half-season loan spell with Bristol City to add eleven more appearances to his career tally.

Although United manager Chris Wilder led with on-loan Chelsea stopper Jamal Blackman last term, Moore continues to be rated and it appears they are looking to tie him down to a new deal given the speculation now surrounding him. Having signed Sam Johnstone, he would only move to us as back up really – so if there’s truth in this speculation it could easily go either way.

He’s certainly steady as a No 2 choice for between the sticks and we obviously need more experienced cover following the departure of Boaz Myhill and boasts plenty of Championship experience, so I could understand our potential interest in terms of this rumour.
