Head coach Pepe Mel has confirmed he can leave the club in the summer, but said his only focus at the moment is in finishing the season on a high and getting as many points as we can from the following three games.

Speaking to wba.co.uk ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, he explained.

‘We are focussed only on the next three matches. We need an extra point and the most important thing now is the matches. It’s ridiculous for me to think about the future now if we then lose, lose and lose. Today I will talk with my players and speak only about Arsenal. If I only speak about the future it is a big mistake. Arsenal are in the top four and are a big club, but I hope and believe it is possible for us to get something.’

Mel admits that it’s certainly not going to be an easy game though but he feels we can take confidence from our performances and results against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton, Tottenham and Manchester United so far this season, but it’s a day we will have to be at our best on but he’s confident the boys will perform again.

In the pre match interviews however, on the subject of his future, he did admit that he has a break clause in the contract and his deal does end this summer in effect.

‘My contract finishes after the Stoke match and then we will have the meeting about the future. My contract is private but we need this meeting with the chairman. It is an open contract, not a closed one but if Pepe Mel says ‘yes’ and West Brom say ‘yes’ there is no problem.’
