Match Stats: Newcastle United v West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion’s change in form under caretaker gaffer Darren Moore continued with aplomb in today’s clash against Newcastle United.

Heading to St James’ Park to face off against Rafa Benitez’s boys, a 29th-minute effort from Matt Phillips returned all three points on the day as Moore’s unbeaten record continues.

The result means slim hopes of a great escape remain alive at least until the end of the evening’s clash between Swansea City and Chelsea.

Should Swansea take a point from the tie it will end our eight-year stay in the Premier League, but even if that comes to pass, under Moore there have been reasons to smile after a pathetic year and at least we won’t have been relegated without a whimper.

All eyes to the Liberty Stadium with fingers crossed that we can at least take it to the next game and keep our slim hopes alive.

Moore certainly couldn’t have done any more this term, just a shame he wasn’t given longer with the first team to work his magic.
