It’s been a while since Shane Long last played Villa, and he wouldn’t mind finding the net twice again this time round.

Long put Reading 2-0 up against Villa in the FA Cup, before Villa finally won the tie 4-2, and Shane certainly wants the right result this time round.

Speaking to wba.co.uk he said.

‘Hopefully I can emulate my goals against Villa, but I’ve learned from that cup tie. Villa are never out of the game, so if we do take the lead this weekend, we’ve got to be as resilient as we were at the back against Wolves and see the game out. In that cup game, we were told to go out for the second half and see out the first 15 minutes, but within 10 minutes we were 3-2 down!’

It’s not just local pride at stake for Long either, it’s Irish pride and bragging rights that are up for grabs.

‘Villa have got my Irish team mate Dunny at the back, and another of my international team mates, Shay Given, in goal. I’ve scored against him once before and hopefully I can do it again. Hopefully, I can get one over those two on Saturday.’
