Shane Long has said his first half miss drove him on to score our only goal in the derby game, but it shows how far we have come that we are disappointed with a draw against Villa.

Speaking to wba.co.uk following the game, Long said.

‘In the first half I didn’t put away that header and I’m pretty confident with my head in the box so I was eager to put things right. Luckily Mozza put a really good ball in during the second half and I managed to put it away. I’m a little disappointed but coming to Villa Park is never easy so it shows how far we’ve come as a team that we’re leaving here disappointed. We’ll look ahead straight away to QPR when we’ll try and get another three points.’

Overall a draw is probably the fair result as both teams had chances to take the three points, but as Long points out, if we keep performing as we are the goals will come and so will the points.
