Liverpool Point Was No More Than We Deserved

Caretaker gaffer Darren Moore is probably getting used to smiling in the dugout as today saw him add another point to his managerial tally in West Bromwich Albion’s clash against Liverpool.

Hosting Jurgen Klopp’s side at The Hawthorns for the tie, going into the final 20 minutes of the game Liverpool did have a 2-0 advantage with Danny Ings and Mohamed Salah finding the net in each half. However, a newly discovered never say die attitude under Moore saw us fight back with just over ten minutes remaining in the match.

Jake Livermore got us underway with a goal in the 79th minute and Salomon Rondon earned us a point with an 88th-minute leveller.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as he met with the media following the game, Moore was convinced we had ‘earned’ the point on the day and again he couldn’t have been more proud of the players for their efforts.

“It was an electric game today, certainly for a neutral it would have been a wonderful match to watch. I’m really pleased with the team, I’m really pleased with the whole club and I’m really pleased that everybody came together and we got a positive result against a very good team.”

Moore explained that the opening five minutes certainly saw us on the backfoot and Liverpool took full advantage to take the lead, but after that, we steadily grew into the game and he saw the confidence in the group rise. Importantly for him, he didn’t see us wilt when the second strike went in – the players kept going and fighting and ultimately we got our reward for that.

“I’m really, really delighted with the support and pleased that they kept us going. We’ve earned that result, and when I say we I mean everybody, by pulling together today against a very good team.”

Fans were again pleased with what the saw from the side under the big man.
