Striker Rickie Lambert has admitted his frustration with how life has gone at The Hawthorns so far following his arrival from Liverpool and admitting that his ‘touch’ isn’t with him yet, he wasn’t going to make any excuses because he knows he needs to work harder and keep plugging away.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail to discuss his first six months at the club, that has seen him only start nine matches, and take in 14 appearances from the bench, the former England striker explained.

‘I think with me which I`m starting to understand a little bit more now, it`s the competitiveness of games, the competitiveness of movement and the competitiveness of touches. Obviously I`m not doing good enough to get that so it`s a hard mix at the minute. I`m not trying to make any excuses, I understand I`ve got to do better. It`s match sharpness, but that`s understandable. I can take not being match sharp but I`m finding it frustrating that my touch is not there at the minute. It`s football, I`ve still got time, I`ll still keep on trying like I said. I haven`t lost my confidence in myself, there`s certain parts of my game at the minute which is not happening so I`ll keep on trying.’

With Jonny Evans now a doubt with his hamstring following the Swansea game and various other injury problems, Lambert did say he was confident Albion had enough strength in depth to see us through this period and get results back on track.

‘I know we`ve had a couple of injuries lately but it was going to come at some point, as it has been the last month or so. But I think we`ve got a strong enough squad to deal with it.’
