Jason Koumas will this week seal his ‘dream` move to Cardiff City in a deal worth over £2 million to Albion. The midfielder spent last season on loan at Cardiff and impressed scoring 12-goals and being named in the Championship team of the season.

Albion boss Bryan Robson had been hoping to settle the differences between himself and the midfielder but Koumas failed to show for a meeting on Monday choosing to rearrange for Tuesday. The midfielder then chose to just send his agent and the Welsh international failed to report back for pre-season training.

Koumas was quoted last week in an interview with a Welsh paper as saying, ‘It’s really frustrating; I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do.’

“I’m not training with West Brom, but I’ve had a few days of meetings with the chairman to try to sort things out.

“They want me to play for them next season and that they think I’m part of their plans.

“I want to go somewhere, you know, but I’m snookered.

“OK, they can’t force me to play football for them, but I’ve got two years left on my contract with them.

“I know Cardiff are in for me, but West Brom don’t want to do a deal. It doesn’t seem to matter how much money Cardiff come up with.

“I really don’t know what I’m going to do about it and I’m not very happy.

“To be honest, I definitely think I’m good enough to play in the Premiership, I always have done, you know.”

So Koumas believes that he is good enough to play in the Premiership, I have never doubted his ability and I believe that Robson feels the same way, the one thing that let`s Jason Koumas down is his attitude. If his attitude matched his ability he would be playing for a top 6 side in the Premier League not on the verge of joining Cardiff City in the Championship.

The trouble with Jason Koumas is that he loves to be a big fish in a small pond. There is rumour that a couple of Premier League clubs interested in the midfielder but the one move he would move heaven and water for is a move to Championship Cardiff. If he believes that he is good enough for the top league why is he not interested in a move there?

Cardiff knew how much Albion wanted when he went there on loan but they have taken months to come up with a deal suitable enough for Albion to accept. The trouble is I believe that the agreement Albion have with Cardiff is more suited to them than us as we now just want the midfielder out of the club, we had originally turned down an offer of £1.5 million plus add-ons but I believe Albion have had to accept this offer to get the disruptiveness of Koumas away from the club.

Cardiff have sealed the deal on their terms and Koumas has engineered the move due to him not turning up to training at Albion. Something needs to be done; players have too much power in situations like this. The midfielder failed to show for pre-season training at Albion so we disciplined him, he still hasn`t turned up so to get him out of the club, to do that though we accept a deal that is suitable to Cardiff but not what we originally asked for.

Albion look set to seal a move for former Liverpool, Blackburn and Wigan midfielder David Thompson on a free-transfer. Robson confirmed that he had spoken to Thompson and his agent and said, “I’ve spoken to him and his agent. The chairman is going to speak to them but he’s got other offers so we’ll see.’
