The former Watford, Sunderland and Southampton striker Kevin Phillips has joined Albion in a £700,000 deal from Aston Villa.

33 year old Phillips has signed a two year deal and has been given the Number 21 shirt.

The Baggies were successful in their pursuit of the Hitchin born striker despite stiff competition for his former club, Sunderland.

Manager, Bryan Robson said ‘We have signed a vastly experienced player who has played at the top level throughout his career’

Phillips has scored 186 goals in 371 Career Starts and 27 Substitute appearances.

All Albion fans are sure to be delighted, and very relieved, at this capture. We now have a strike force that can score the goals required to gain Promotion with Phillips, John Hartson, Nathan Ellington and Stuart Nicholson available for selection and Diomansy Kamara’s injury rehab progressing well.
