With news of Chris Brunt’s contract extension meaning he and James Morrison will both celebrate ten years at The Hawthorns, it’s worth remembering Morrison himself had already spoken about the potential for a joint testimonial game previously.

With both players lining up alongside each other in Middlesbrough’s youth setup, and now almost having spent a decade a piece alongside each other at West Brom it’s fair to say they know each other well and the topic of a joint testimonial for charity was discussed by Morrison last summer.

We covered this previously when he signed his own contract last July – Click Here and back then he explained there was a gentleman’s agreement in place should they both hit the decade mark.

‘At the moment, we have had a gentlemen’s handshake on the idea and we will look at it in more detail further on. But not many players do that in this day and age and it would be nice to celebrate the moment for charity. I will have a chat with Brunty and see if he is up for it.’

With both now signed on to complete the testimonial requirement of ten years at a club, those discussions I suspect won’t be held until this season winds up but over the summer we might start to get some news on it and maybe it’ll even be worked into pre season plans for a further charity boost?
