During the summer transfer window, one of manager Slaven Bilic’s arrivals was young Benfica talent Chris Willock.

The 21-year-old had been on the books of Arsenal where he made two EFL Cup substitute appearances, but since coming into The Hawthorns, he has failed to so far make his debut for the senior side but has been a regular at Under 23 level and he’s largely impressed with some reports suggesting that we would be looking to turn his deal permanent despite the lack of game time.

On Sunday, The Telegraph went in the other direction and had a report stating that his parent club weren’t happy with the lack of minutes and would look to recall him in the New Year and presumably loan him out again elsewhere to further aid his development better.

If we are looking at a permanent deal, I don’t see the natural January break clause as being an issue, but even if he is recalled, given his lack of impact it’s hardly a blow to our options is it.
