Despite West Bromwich Albion’s relegation from the Premier League last season, spirits in the fanbase remain high following the appointment of new head coach Darren Moore.

Aston Villa’s ongoing financial problems that saw them face a potential winding-up order last month has only added to the banter for some going into the new 2018/19 Championship campaign.
With the fixtures for all EFL member clubs being released at 9am tomorrow, the Baggies social media team took to Twitter to ask fans what club would make their ideal opening weekend fixture for the new season and clearly one side featured highly in the answering.
Along with the obvious team selection for our first opponent of the season, some couldn’t resist the chance to comment either.

Villa weren’t alone mind you, some have the knives out for our former head coach Tony Pulis and they believe Middlesbrough on opening day so he can take in a round of boos would be the ideal start for the challenges ahead.
I’d love it if we got Boro first game at home just to hear the boos for Pulis

With Stoke City also added to the Championship this year, I imagine productivity at work in the Midlands area as a whole will plummet at 9am when the games are announced. Hopefully, people’s bosses will be otherwise engaged for that period so the season can be taken in – alternatively, if you’re a gaffer yourself, give the troops 5 minutes leeway.
