“It Can Only Bode Well” – Shan Optimistic As West Brom Get Back To Winning Ways

|

With ongoing head coach shenanigans at West Bromwich Albion, we were back in Championship action earlier today as we faced off against linked Alex Neil and his Preston North End side.

With back to back losses, West Brom looked up for this one at The Hawthorns and Dwight Gayle gave us the advantage in minute 27, and he’d doubled that a few minutes later to secure his brace. Jay Rodriguez popped up to get himself on the scoresheet in minute 43 and we were comfortable at 3-0 at the half time break.

Gayle completed his hattrick in the 71st minute, but Preston did get a consolation in stoppage-time to ruin the clean sheet, but the game finished 4-1 as we took another step in the right direction for securing our Play-Off spot.

Two more wins will do it and in terms of an attacking display, that was far more like it again.

Speaking to the BBC following the end of the game, caretaker gaffer Jimmy Shan said of the match.

“They have asked me to look after first-team affairs until further notice and that is where we sit and where I am now. After two negatives results I was delighted the performance, the four goals scored and most importantly the three points. They (Gayle and Rodriguez) are both fighting it out to be our top goalscorer. I thought that to get our two highest scorers on the pitch was really important. Knowing the pair of them, the way that are around the training ground and how competitive they are, being level pegging, it can only bode well for the football club in our remaining fixtures.”
