Former head coach Alan Irvine is now finally free to take a new job having been on gardening leave and still under contract with us following his sacking.

Yesterday agreement was struck on the remainder of his contract, and whilst details of that settlement have not been announced, he is now free to get back into the world of football.

The deal was done following intervention by the League Manager’s Association.

‘I’m delighted to have reached a settlement agreement with West Bromwich Albion and I’m now free to look for my next challenge. I really enjoyed my time being a manager with West Brom, just as I had done at Preston and Sheffield Wednesday. That is something that excites me and is the route I would like to go down.’

He contract with us was still to run until December but far more sensible to have him off the wage bill now and all ties cut.
