Head coach Alan Irvine has previewed our tough encounter against Manchester City on Boxing Day.

Speaking to wba.co.uk in his pre game press conference, the gaffer explained that he knew it was going to be a particularly tough game for us, but he knows the players will be doing all they can to secure us a positive result.

‘As normal we will look for any weaknesses that we can find. Obviously teams like them don’t have too many but hopefully they have a few that we might be able to exploit. And of course we will look at their strengths and see what we need to do to counteract them.’

Irvine goes on to say that he’s obviously still gutted about our result against Queens Park Rangers because he knows that should’ve been all three points, however he knows we need to draw a line under that now, get our confidence back so we can give the City match our best efforts and he knows we can take positives from the game despite coming away with nothing.

In terms of team news, Chris Brunt has returned to training, but Victor Anichebe is missing with his groin problem.

Georgios Samaras is now back with us following his personal time, and he’s back in training so should come into contention, and although Graham Dorrans missed training on Tuesday with a tight calf, Irvine expects him to be okay for Boxing Day.

Outside of that it’s a case of how we were other than Boaz Myhill who’s been ill.
