‘I enjoy the play-offs more’ – These West Brom fans give their take on Blackburn draw

|

West Brom’s automatic promotion hopes suffered something of a blow on Saturday afternoon, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

The Baggies took a deserved lead with five minutes remaining in the first half, as Filip Krovinovic fired home from inside the area.

Slaven Bilic’s side could have been further ahead when Krovinovic hit the post from close range shortly after half time, with Blackburn goalkeeper Christian Walton producing a number of decent saves to deny the likes of Charlie Austin and Kamil Grosicki throughout the course of the game.

The visitors were then made to pay for failing to take those chances when substitute Joe Rothwell equalised for Blackburn just past the hour mark, with the visitors then missing chances to win it late on through the likes of Jacob Davenport and Lewis Holtby.

Was a draw a fair result against Blackburn?

Yes

No

With both sides forced to settle for a point, West Brom are now three points clear of third-placed Brentford in the race for automatic promotion, but with the Bees enjoying a significantly stronger goal difference, leaving Bilic’s side with little margin for error in their remaining three games of the regular season.

Taking to Twitter to react to that result, many Baggies fans appeared concerned with their side’s position in the aftermath with the draw with Blackburn, with some suggesting the prospect of the play-offs may once again be on the cards.
