Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the club have been in touch with free agent Owen Hargreaves, but he says he is will be realistic about any deal.

The former England midfielder was released by Manchester United at the end of last season after a spate of injuries plagued his time at the Champions, but speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson said.

‘Owen has been in contact with Dan Ashworth and I think he wants to meet up with us, but we’ve got to be realistic. I think one of the last games Owen played was in my first season at Fulham, so as I said, we have to be realistic.’

The key is obviously can we get him and then keep him fit. He would be a good addition to the squad but we don’t want or need somebody who could go only give us 5 games a season.
