Roy Hodgson has commented on a couple of recent summer transfer links surfacing in the press.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson specifically referenced the rumours surrounding Tomasz Kuszczak and Gareth McAuley saying that they would be the types of players on Albion’s radar but that fans shouldn’t put too much stock in rumours.

‘If those players are available they will certainly be players we’ll discuss. At the moment all that talk is pure specualtion. This is the time when agents are trying to move their players around by supposedly having clubs who are interested in buying them.’

Roy adds one of his favourite stories in this vain.

‘One of the classic things is, ‘he’s wanted by these 35 clubs but he wants to come to you because he’s always wanted to play in a blue and white shirt. I’ve heard it all before.’

I’m not sure an agent has been daft enough to actually say that verbatim, but thesedays you never really know do you!
