Roy Hodgson has talked about the qualities of the players he will be looking to sign in the summer, and givena brief insight into how he approaches transfer windows.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Hodgson refused to give any hints on which areas of the pitch he plans on strengthening, but admits that following discussions with the board and Dan Ashworth, a number of enquiries have already gone out.

‘Dan Ashworth is in talks with quite a lot of people because that’s how it works. You don’t just say ‘we think we’ll have player X’. What you do is make enquiries, you see who’s still there, what can we do and who have we got.’

Moving onto the type of player Hodgson will be looking for, he explains that he wants players in who are hard working, reliable, and not only want to be at the club but also believe in what the club is trying to achieve and the way in which we play.

Describing our immediate future as unglamourous, Hodgson says that anybody joining the club will have to accept and fully understand that next seasons mission will be again to simply stay in the Premier League. Anything over a sensible midtable finish will be a serious bonus in his eyes.

‘It’s going to be hard work because next season our major target of stopping in this league for a second successive season is going to be every bit as hard as surviving our first season.’

And there was me thinking we were going to make a run for the title 🙂
