Roy Hodgson has confirmed that the Baggies are interested in Dundee United’s Scott Allan, but a deal is far from sorted.

Speaking to wba.co.uk the manager confirmed our interest in the 20 year old midfielder following growing media speculation.

‘Dan Ashworth has been in talks with Dundee United and has followed the player. He keeps me informed and the last I heard, talks were going well.’

Hodgson says that Allan is one for the future and wouldn’t be expected to walk into our first team, but the signs are that he will become a very useful player in the future.

‘Dan likes the player and thinks he’s got an interesting future and, as a coach, you’ve always got to be happy when the club is looking to sign talented players for the future. I’ve given my opinion as to whether we’re in the right ball park as regards the player. We certainly would be in the right ball park.’
