Michael Appleton has said a decision on his future position within the club will be made soon.

Appleton took charge prior to Hodgson being appointed after Roberto Di Matteo left and the new manager has made sure he has done his homework by contacting former employer SirAlex of United for a reference, prior to any decision being taken.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Appleton said.

‘I think things should be sorted out very soon. We knew we had some key games coming up and I would imagine the club will make a few announcements before or after the Arsenal game.’

Appleton adds that he thinks things have gone to plan on the training pitch and he’s hopeful of good news, before saying.

‘Roy has done his research on me, one of the first things he said was he’d spoken to Sir Alex. He said Sir Alex spoke very highly of me but was quick to say ‘tell that Appleton to concentrate on coaching for another couple of years before he goes into management!”
