Roy Hodgson couldn’t have celebrated his first anniversary at the club in more style than todays victory over Wolves.

Speaking to wba.co.uk after the 5-1 demolition of our Black Country neighbours, Hodgson said.

‘It’s certainly up there with the best performances we’ve had while I’ve been here. There have been lots of good occasions but it was good to win today in an important derby game.’

Roy admits that with how the game developed in the first half, he was a little tentative going in at the break level, but the response of the team in the second half was perfect.

‘It did seem like a deja vu situation to come in 1-1 when, really, we should have come in ahead. I think the most crucial point for us is that luckily, for once, I was able to control my emotions and speak very sensibly and calmly to the players.’
