With head coach Alan Pardew saying a few days back that work was being done on turning Ahmed Hegazi’s loan deal from Al Ahly into a permanent one, yesterday that was confirmed.

The Egyptian international had a permanent deal including in his loan spell and that has now been activated and concluded for an undisclosed fee owing to how he’s settled into life at The Hawthorns so far this season.

He signs a contract with Albion until the summer of 2022 and presumably that comes into force on January 1, 2018 when the transfer window officially opens.

Since coming to the club over the summer, the 26 year old has impressed many with his performances which now number 19 starts and he opened his goal scoring account in his debut game against Bournemouth back at the start of the season where he struck the winning goal.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Pardew was delighted to see his future confirmed with us.

‘This is great news for the Club – Ahmed has been absolutely terrific for me since I arrived and I am sure there is even more to come from him in the future. He is one of the players we can build around on the road ahead. He has a big role to play and it is good for the player and the Club to remove any doubts and make the transfer permanent. I’m sure it is something the supporters will also welcome.’

Hegazi added.

‘I am very happy with the Club and very happy to be part of this group of players. I know the results are not what we would want at the moment. But there is great spirit here and I am sure that we will turn the results in our favour before long.’
