West Bromwich Albion head coach Darren Moore held an informal lunch meeting with owner Guochuan Lai and other club officials this week to discuss plans for the January transfer window.
Lai was over to actually watch a game which was a bit of a novelty for many fans, but his trip is brief and he isn’t staying for the Aston Villa derby as it’s said he’ll be heading back to China prior to that – he may have already left?
Quotes attributed to Moore don’t really give much away but they can be read on the following link.
Of more interest are the E&S’s comments about being in an overdraft and needing to borrow money in the New Year given existing commitments.
Whatever progress was actually made at the meeting will be understandably kept under wraps by all at the club, but reacting to news of the informal greet, fans on social media were less than excited by what it might mean for our promotion hopes given previous transfer windows. That in itself is a worry, but we always knew relegation would have a financial impact.

Please just give us some cash to get 3 or 4 players to compliment the team. I can think of a few names!
