West Brom striker John Hartson has vowed to fight for his place in the team and hopes he will be going nowhere in the January Transfer window.

Hartson has slipped down the pecking order at the Hawthorns, he now trails the likes of Kevin Phillips, Nathan Ellington at Diomansy Kamara in the battle for a place in the Albion frontline.

There have been rumours that the 31 year old will be off to another club in January, but Hartson says he is staying.

Speaking to Sky Sports News Hartson said: ‘People have been asking if I would move but I’ve always been a battler and I want to stay here and fight for first-team football.

‘We’ve got some real class up front and it’s much more important that the team is doing well as a whole with players ready to come in.

‘You look at the quality of Kevin Phillips, Nathan Ellington, not to mention Diomansy Kamara, who is absolutely on fire at the moment, and it’s not like I can say I’m due a starting place every week.’
