With yesterday’s positive news that West Bromwich Albion’s long search for a new head coach had now finally been completed and that we had confirmed Slaven Bilic as the man to lead us forward on a two year deal, I think the main emotion was relief that it was all finally over.

It’s been a long few months with plenty of disappointments along the way and the mood of the fanbase has been clear for all to see, but this is a solid appointment given his managerial experience (both domestic and international) and it should help draw a line.

With plenty of financial worries, Bilic must have been given some assurances when it came to spending budgets and he spoke about our ‘short and long’ term plans not clashing, so his eyes are wide open you would hope – and that in itself should give fans confidence that he knows what he needs to do, and that he’ll be backed to do it.

Fans reacting on social media certainly seemed happy with the news but the proof will be in the transfer pudding and we have to look to the future and rebuild properly now instead of seeking cheap, quick fixes. With some positive messages from Hammers fans, that bodes well I think.
