Albion have been boosted by the news that James Morrison’s knee injury isn’t as bad as first thought.

Following the results of the scan coming in, they have confirmed he has injured his medial ligament, and not his cruciate ligament which means his rehab period will be weeks rather than months, meaning the player could return to fitness before the end of the season.

Speaking to wba.co.uk head of medical services, Mark Gillett, said.

‘We came to the conclusion it would more likely be a medial ligament issue, but you can’t be 100% sure until the swelling has receded and you get the injury scanned. The outcome means that his rehab period will be more a case of weeks than months, and if all goes to plan, he should be able to play again this season.’
