Zoltan Gera has welcomed the international break as it gives him a chance to get some more match action and work himself further into the plans of Roy Hodgson.

Speaking to the wba.co.uk Gera said he believes the international fixtures will aide his club form and give him the extra fitness he needs to be challenging for a regular starting spot.

‘Hungary have two games in the next week so that is good for me. Hopefully, I will come back fitter and stronger.’

Gera was pleased to return to action against Arsenal last weekend, but he admits it was tough for him and the result obviously wasn’t great.

‘I am happy to be back but the result wasn’t good, but I am looking forward to playing more games. Playing 60 minutes wasn’t bad for a comeback.’
