Ahh spring.

Springtime is the part of the year that a large number of different species of plant and animal awake from their winter slumber. This includes the illusive football agent.

As the season looks set to draw into an exciting conclusion, football agents have popped back out of the woodwork to make the second of the bi-annual “succeed or my client is off” speeches aimed at underperforming clubs.

Sam Stapleton, agent for Albion playmaker Zoltan Gera is no different.

Mr Stapleton has admitted that Gera may well be departing the Hawthorn’s at the end of this season, should Tony Mowbray’s men not make it into the promised land of the Premiership come May. Zoltan has attracted interest for a number of Premier League clubs in the past, with Aston Villa constantly linked to the Hungarian, and Gareth Southgate’s Middlesbrough potentially looking for a replacement for the talented Stuart Downing.

The players’ agent told the Express & Star:

“If Albion go up, which Zolly is in the form of his life trying to help happen, then the chances are if there is no top-six Premier League side in for him he will stay.

“He has just had his little girl and he feels happy, settled and part of the club and if they go up I think he will stay there.

“If they don’t go up then Zolly will have to consider things because he wants to play in the Premier League and there are clubs abroad who are interested and who play in European competitions.”

I’m so glad he’ll stay, unless we fail to gain promotion, or if a top-six Premier League side come in for him. What a loyal chap, kudos!
