Midfielder and summer signing Craig Gardner has said that Albion must use the international break now to pick ourselves up following the disappointing showing in our three nil loss to Swansea last weekend.

Speaking to wba.co.uk as we hit the fortnight fixture break, Gardner admitted everybody wanted to get back out on the pitch to put it right, but given we can’t do that, we must make the most of this opportunity to learn from mistakes, work on tactics and make sure we get it right the next time we have a chance to.

‘Everyone in the dressing room is disappointed. We’ve had a good start to the season and we went to Swansea and got beat 3-0. But we’ve got to pick ourselves up now and go again. We’re all in it together, there’s no ‘I’ in team, there are no individuals, and we have to respond as a team.’

Gardner goes on to say that although it wasn’t what anybody wanted, he had to thank the fans for travelling and giving the support that they did and the players will now be looking to make up for that when football returns.

He does also say that it’s not the time to panic, the team are still coming together and we still have a number of players and options to come into contention properly and of course the break will help many of them gel and get up to speed.

‘It’s not the end of the season, it’s not over, and we have to build and move forward. It’s good for the players we’ve brought in, we’re trying to click. It’s happening slowly every day and now we’ve got a good ten to 12 days to work together and build.’
