Keith Downing has said Sunday’s switch to a more attacked minded 442 has given Roy Hodgson a few interesting thoughts.

Speaking to wba.co.uk Downing said.

‘If all three played it would mean asking someone like Fortune to play out wide, which he did on Sunday, with Long down the middle and Peter on the other side. It’s feasible and it has been talked about.’

Nothing is set in stone though because Roy has options even in that formation.

‘Having said that, Jerome Thomas is more of an out and out winger and he is contesting that, as is Somen Tchoyi. Also Marco has shown some great form down the middle. We will take stock and have a look.’
