“For Me It’s…” Sky Pundit Hails West Brom Star As One Of The Best In The Championship

|

There are plenty of reasons for West Bromwich Albion fans to be smiling as we head towards the New Year given our fantastic start to the 2019/20 Championship campaign under former Croatian international gaffer Slaven Bilic, and the emergence of young defender Nathan Ferguson has certainly been a bonus.

Our 19-year-old Academy graduate has certainly made this season his breakthrough and he boasts 18 appearances in the Championship already and his form and maturity has seen plenty of speculation about his future with a new contract yet to be signed. There aren’t many clubs he hasn’t been linked to as we’ve had everyone from Tottenham Hotspur to Atletico Madrid and Juventus namechecked.

Whatever his future holds remains open for debate but we all hope he remains at The Hawthorns, but the praise definitely keeps coming for the young lad and former player and now Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews has tipped him as potentially the most promising youngster in the second tier.

“For me it’s Nathan Ferguson I was there for his debut against Nottingham Forest, we were surprised to see him start even though he’d played through pre season, and you’re always wondering how someone that young is going to deal with first team football and it was amazing, it was amazing to watch how easily he slotted in. Defensively and I know recently this is something we always judge full backs on what they do going forwards, but this fella loves defending, he’s come up against some of the best attacking players in the division and he’s had them in his pocket. And the way West Brom set up is perfect because he stays behind and picks and chooses when he goes beyond and the left-back Gibbs is the one who goes forward in advance.”
