|

With plenty of concern over the weekend for West Bromwich Albion fans when it came to reports that Burnley had now met Jay Rodriguez’s release fee, on Friday there was some good news as new head coach Slaven Bilic made his first capture since arriving at the club this summer.

With plenty of speculation linking us with a loan move for Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinovic and some talk that the deal was in doubt at the end of the week, on Friday the club confirmed his arrival at The Hawthorns.

The 23-year-old youth international comes in on a season-long loan basis and there is no mention of a potential buy clause here, but that was expected given the speculation.

Arriving from Portuguese side Benfica, Sporting Director Luke Dowling told wba.co.uk that he expected the loan move to work out for all sides here.

“Filip is a bright, energetic player who is looking forward to representing this football club and everyone here is delighted to have him with us, especially Slaven Bilic. It’s great that Filip is here in time to travel to our pre-season training camp in Spain. That trip will help build his fitness alongside his new team-mates, who he can also begin to get to know. Filip has gained good experience representing Benfica and we hope he will continue to develop as a player during his time at The Hawthorns.”
