“Every Single Player Played Their Part” – Moore Delighted With Stoke Efforts

|

West Bromwich Albion made the short trip across the Midlands for tonight’s evening Championship kickoff against Stoke City.

Heading to the Bet365 Stadium, West Brom were looking to bolster our promotion hopes this year against a side that despite the early backing of the pundits, have been woefully poor for most of the campaign so far.

The hosts slightly edged the match statistics on the day but although they had more possession and chances overall, we limited them to one on target and in testing their goalkeeping twice, Dwight Gayle beat him once in the 25th minute to secure us a tight 1-0 victory and another three points in our promotion campaign.

The win puts us to within four points of the automatic spots and the margin of victory really should’ve been larger.

Speaking to the BBC following the culmination of the 90 minutes, head coach Darren Moore said of our efforts.

“I’m delighted to get the goal from a set-play, and then the work off the ball as a group was excellent. Every single player played their part. Stoke are a different team to what they were three weeks ago. You can see the clear work Nathan’s doing with them, and they’ll be difficult opponents for any team to come here and get anything.”
